I’ve dealt with Anxiety and Panic attacks my whole life, so I totally know how you feel. It is what eventually became my motivation to major in Psychology in College so I can eventually become a therapist.
One thing to remember is that anxiety attacks can happen for no reason at all. That is normal (for someone who suffers from them). There doesn’t necessarily always have to be a trigger. You can possibly have a very obvious reason, underlying or subconscious reason, or no reason whatsoever.
One trick someone taught me is that when I feel the anxiety coming on, is to breath from my stomach, not my chest. It’s a relaxation/diversion method, which means while you relax your body, you trick yourself into focusing on something else. So look down at your tummy and as you inhale, try to poof it out as much as you can and….. watch it go out. And as you exhale, watch it go in and try to pull it in as far as you can and be sure to take deep breaths. Focus on your tummy and watch its movement as you breath and it might feel a little weird at first but this is actually how we are supposed to breath.
One question would be, how long have you been taking the Zoloft? If you have been taking it for a very short time, anxiety might be a side affect (which is rare but possible) and you need a different med. If you have been on Zoloft for a while now, you might need to up the dose, as it seems like your body isnt responding to it now.
you do have symptons of panic attacks. sometimes zoloft make them worse. stop taking the zoloft;, and get something else for anti-anxiety. i used zoloft before, and it made me more anxious. tell your doctor you want to try another anti-depressant;, and you also need xanax for the panic attacks.i;ve been on cymlalta and effexor before for anxiety–and both are good meds. you will definitely need xanax still for the panic attacks. if doctor dont agree;, then go to ypur local mental health office. talk to a counselor;, and he/she will prescribe this for you. zoloft has too many bad side effects. i have had panic attacks for 20 yrs–and now with my meds, they are controlable. the symptoms of panic attacks are;, feeling like you cant breathe, loss of functiong logically, fear of dying, numbness, loss of control, sweating profousdely etc; get help soon. there is help. i know. good luck–god bless.
You are right, you shouldn’t have to deal with these kinds of issues at 14. I suggest talking with your parents and letting them know what you are feeling and experiencing, emotionally and physically.
If you are having an anxiety attack it could be brought on by any number of things.
Your symptoms could be a side effect of the medication you’re on. Either way your parents and physician should know about it. Do not stop ANY medication suddenly, especially anti-depressants, without consulting your physician.
Hope you find relief soon.
I am definitely no expert but I Believe that you need to talk to your parents and/ or your doctor immediately. Your medication is appaently not working. Anxiety attacks do not automatically go away with age, that I do know from experience. Proper and professional advice is what you need, especially at your age. You can feel better with the proper help. No, you should not feel this way and you don’t have to. Please seek qualified help. I’ll be thinking about you.
It’s normal. A lot of people go through funny stages in their early teens, a result of puberty. The stress you’re feeling could be an enhanced reaction to something like school, large changes in your lifestyle, or your parents giving you a hard time.
Just grit your teeth and bare through it. Yeah, it sucks, just get some relaxation, don’t forget regular exercise, make sure you’re getting enough sleep, yadda yar.
Just a personal opinion, but I’d get off those meds too. They typically have side effects and can be rather addictive, so should only be used if you really feel you need them. But that’s just how I feel about stuff like that, you do what you feel is right in that respect.
its just general anxiety. i had it since i was 12. the good news is you deal with it better with age. its never gone completely away but i dont have attacks but like a couple times a year now(im 21). when i do i know what it is and i grab something for my stomach. i drink some water and eat bread and kinda pace around with my blanket around me lol. turn on some family guy or something and try to just sit it out. your mind can overcome it. you know that you had this feeling before and nothing happened its just anxiety. your health is fine and in time this will get better. i now hardly take medication for it but it bothers me a little in the winter months. i take 20mg of prozac for anxiety when its really bothering me. i hear prozac isnt a good anxiety medicine but it worked best for me. anyway give it a couple years you will have it under control just by ur will.
Im also 14 i dont think i could put up with this so go to your GP/whoever prescribed u with it and then ask him to change your medication i wish you the best of luck i truly do.
