I take Zoloft (50 mg) and it has completely changed my life, i have taken it for about two and a half months now, and i havent had a panic attack since! Mine were very severe, i would throw up everytime i got anxious or excited (which became almost a daily occurance)…! or i would feel like i was going to throw up, which is almost as bad! i would have to plan escape routes, and throw up when i was w/ people pretending to just go to the bathroom and then come back like nothing happened. I felt like i was living a double life. I havent thrown up since about a week after i started taking Zoloft, it takes about two weeks to fully work!
I highly reccommend it!!! :] Best of luck!
and dont take Atavan because even though it’ll be guaranteed to calm you down, it is not good for you and its HIGHLY addictive and Zoloft isnt addictive!
I have faith in God. I pray to Him and read His Word daily. God gives me peace, for I know that:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phillipians 4:13)
I used to be anxious at all times for no reason, I used to have panic attacks, I used to suffer from depression. Although I still expereince these things from time to time it doesn’t last long because I pray and ask God to see me through it, to take it away from me.
Low doses of Seroquel, used to take Risperdal instead–and it worked better than Seroquel, but it can interfere with prolactin levels
Edit: Some people take Buspar, but in my opinion it’s worse than worthless
Re-edit: Not to be funny, but until you get in to see your doctor, you could start taking a B-complex vitamin (make sure it has B-12 in it) The B vitamins help your nerve function and keep your nervous system in good working order. I take one with my daily meds. It couldn’t hurt.
SSRI’s are always a good thing with “the benzos” for break through anxiety (and it could be a comfort blanket)
FYI for the people below me- ativan is a banzo, also, anything that ends in “pam” like lorazapam (which is ativan) is a benzo
Also, there are many SSRI’s like losartan, zoloft, prozac, etc… and they all of generic names like sertraline etc….
Personally, if you’re taking medicine just for anxiety or panic attacks, I would try to stop if you think you can. I think doctors are giving people these medicines to easily for panic and AX. I had both really bad. I stayed off the drugs and now my life is amazing and I have NO more attacks. If I feel them coming on, I know that it is just my “fight or flight” mechanism and adrenaline pumping.
The hardest thing to figure out is that nothing is wrong…you have to practice calming yourself down daily and read enlightening books – and live a positive lifestyle. Stay away from the negative thoughts!!! You will win …check out Personally, if you’re taking medicine just for anxiety or panic attacks, I would try to stop if you think you can. No alcohol and drugs is the first good step, shore.
Try to create a really happy place in your mind, an island or so.
It’s like meditation what calms you down.
And then you can try to escape to this place when you get problems. You should write done when the attacks happen, what triggers them and you can try to avoid those situations if possible.
sweetie i am on Vistaril as well. i have been on it for over a year and it seems to work for me. (everyone reacts to meds differently) i have been on benzos and got hooked. so i understand you wanting to stay away for those…good decision. have you spoke with your pdoc? my suggestion would be talk with him/her and see what they can offer you.
i wish you all the best! take care!
I just want to say please be careful when taking ssri’s. I had a close friend who wasn’t being properly watched by his doctor. He ended up in jail for life for taking two lives and shooting three others at a bar. It was really sad because he was an awesome guy but the meds messed him up.
Hi, I am currently taking Pristiq, which is the newest Effexor, and Ritalin, with Xanax .25 as needed. This combo seems to help immensely! Just remember, everyone is different, so always take your own specific needs into account. Good Luck and God Bless!
Whatever you do, do not take lexapro. It did absolutely nothing for me. Effexor seemed to help though, but the downside was the weening off. No med is right for every person. call your doctor and see what he thinks
This stuff works - plain and simple: I to take it before my flights and it is what helped me overcome my fear of flying. Take this at the onset of stress or if you know you are going into a stressful situation such as a plane ride in my case.
Order it now that way you have it when you need it because you will regret not having it later.

I take Rivotril [Clonazepam], it helps but sometimes makes me sleepy.
I’ve heard other people take Xanax/Alprazolam.
You and your doctor need to make medical decisions, not the yahoos here!
If you don’t like what your doctor suggest, get a second opinion.
I don’t take anything. I battle it myself. I don’t like to take medications for those issues.
just breathe
breathe in….breathe out….breathe in
close your eyes, empty out your mind, breathe
The best i know of that our hospital gives is ativan and xanax. Talk to your doc who can help you with what drugs to use!
Good luck
