I’m on Xanax, but interested in knowing more about theraphy.
I’ve never been to a therapist so I have no idea what it’s like. Has it worked for anyone?
Therapy worked better for me than medication did. Mostly they just talk, ask questions. Sometmes they ask very specific questions to get you to think..which is good. I learned some very valuable life skills and coping skills from my therapist. These skills I still use today and often times pass on to others here at Y/A. My point is this: medication can get you through the moment–learning how to cope can get you through the rest of your life.
Anxiety/panic disorder is the most succesfuly treated condition therapists encounter. Talking it over takes away its power. Xanax (alprazolam) works pretty well when used to handle a particular situation. However, as you may have noticed, it leaves you a little stupid and if used everyday quickly becomes addictive and you will need more and more to get the desired effect. See a psychologist or social worker in private practice for therapy. Psychiatrists usually want to just write a prescription (and another and another) trying to find something that works and doesn’t have huge side effects. Other solutions that work for many: Take fish oil capsules daily, take vitamin B complex, avoid all forms of caffiene, ie energy drinks, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Take L. Theanine capsules. Available at Whole foods and other health food stores, it is non addictive and a mild tranquilzer helpful to many. It is extracted from green tea but has no caffiene. It does not provide euphoria like Xanax but does reduce anxiety for many people. Regular aerobic excersize helps some, particularly walking or running out of doors. And one final suggestion, remember that everyone is not looking at you. You are not the center of their universe, and in fact, most people really don’t care if you do something to embarass yourself. They are all caught up in their own issues and are not terribly interested in you. The more you direct your mind towards things oustide of yourself the less trouble you will have. When you have a goal or mission to accomplish, anxieties take their rightful place way down the priority list. Hope this helps. Be well.
Depends on if you’re talking about physical therapy, which might be exercise , massage etc, or nutritional therapy (holistic naturalpathic doctors use this), or talk therapy ( doesn’t work as well).
Most mental disorders are hormonal, toxic exposure, or chemical imbalance in nature (which can have inherited tendancies).
Here is my stock answer on anxiety, and depression and nutrition. I healed myself after being devistated over a hurt child, and going crazy hyper, then anorexic, and being hospitilized. Most mental illness is toxin or nutrition caused.
I think that your metabolism is off. I’m guessing that you don’t eat a lot of fresh vegetables, nuts, and fish and eggs.
There is a safe, anti anxiety tonic drops, that you can get at http://www.naturessunshine.com It’s called ” Distress Remedy” and it’s tintcures of flowers. That will help when you’re having an attack.
But to get the problem to STOP you need to get your minerals and omega oils balanced in your body, and that will help balance your hormones.
Just like when someone gets drunk, they act funny , or mooshy, or slur their words etc…. because they have too much alcohol in their body… If you’re low on Omega 3s, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Co-Q-10, and minerals especially Chromium and Vanadium and other trace minerals…Your brain just won’t work right. You can have mood swings, or anxiety.
A great source of nutrition for those who don’t always eat right is Monavie Juice. Super antioxidents, enzymes, and trace minerals.
Or Noni Juice, that helps our body actually make serotonin the hormone that gives you the “runners high” and lifts your mood like exercise.
Take 1000-2000 mg of Vitamin D a day, Take Flax Seed oil capsules for the Omega 3’s, eat eggs for breakfast, get yourself a good all minerals suppliment with all the trace minerals, eat Cashew nuts (they remove fear and panic ) and study up on nutrition and emotions and mental health.
It’s your body, and doctors won’t heal you naturally. You’re better off with a naturalist than with doctors wanting to stick you full of medicines, and have you talk about your problems forever… They just treat the symptoms. You need to cure the inbalances.
This stuff works - plain and simple: I to take it before my flights and it is what helped me overcome my fear of flying. Take this at the onset of stress or if you know you are going into a stressful situation such as a plane ride in my case.
Order it now that way you have it when you need it because you will regret not having it later.
