I recently had an opportunity to meet a favorite radio host, and upon reaching him, I gave him a hug, and then began crying and had an overwhelming desire to hide. I was very happy and excited prior to greeting him, but I knew that I was nervous.
Is this an anxiety attack? If I go to another public outing of his, how can I better maintain my composure?

It’s more of an emotional reaction,i expect the more used you become to meeting people you hold in high regard, the less this reaction will occur, until all that occurs is that you show your core self.
Advice:
1:Try not to not exclusively look for meeting people you have really built up in high regard.
2:start aiming for the ones you like but do not “worship”.
In the 60’s this would of been called Hysteria,or a hysterical reaction.Thank goodness we are not all at a Beatles concert in the past.!
All that fainting was not a panic disorder,a panic attack can happen for NO reason.
You had a reason, and i’m guessing you have unmet emotional needs because you hugged that person.
It’s a bit like hairs on the back of your neck multiplied by a million
Commonly described as starstruck now.
Some celebrities suffer this when they hold other stars as a better actor or admire them
More common than you probably feel it is.
It’s the adreneline. It’s the overwhelming emotion of seeing him. I would say it’s normal.
